PLEASE READ! PHOTO EXPLAINATIONS: ---------------------------------- For those of you that remember what this place used to look like, you will readily see what has changed over the years. For others unfamiliar with the history, here is a little help. During the summer of 2014 several outside yard improvements were made that resulted in a total of five rather deep French drains being dug; sections of ground were excavated, lowered and re-contoured to solve long standing water drainage issues; two additional gutter splash blocks (not pictured) were installed; as well as other smaller landscaping projects not mentioned here. Total excavation of existing dirt was 3.5 yards, replaced by 3.5 yards of new rock laid, plus an additional 1.5 yards of new bark. One half cubic yard of material is about equal to the capacity of a small pick up truck load. 0016 - Overview of back yard from dining room door. Back privacy fence was extended around East end of yard, summer of 2014. There is more back lot on the other side, but is used only as a buffer from the neighbors. 0019 Sod was installed back 2011, 0021 but with Renee Shockley's 0024 - help a new timer controlled ring of 8 LED garden night lights was added along the flower bed base. New bark also added. Two (of 5 total) French drains are pictured here providing rain runoff protection for downspouts coming off the garage. 0023 - Ground to the right (under trash cans and along fence) excavated down 3" to 4", then filled with rock. This basin under the trash cans also provides percolation dispersal in the rainy season for storm water runoff. Downspout not visible. Left side of picture had dirt removed to extensivly re-contor the slope to minimize standing water on the driveway. 0025 - Seven new dwarf fruit trees planted along fence line. In this picture, only 6 are planted, working on the last one. Not totally visible in picture is a timer and drip water system for the new trees. If these live, then more trees may be planted in the future. 0029 - We have a local friend who does custom woodworking for a great price. He made a tea cup display shelf and mounted it on the wall, plus two front glass door cabinets with hanging wine glasses in the corner, and one wood valance for the window.
